PROJECTSIntroduction [Biosketch]
- Pranjit Barman has been working as a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Assam, India, since 2005. He completed his doctoral work at Gauhati University, India, in the field of Synthetic Organic Chemistry. He has around 100 publications in several esteemed journals and has presented many research papers in national as well as international level seminars. He is actively involved in research work and has supervised several projects for post-graduate students. Fourteen scholars were also awarded their Ph.D. degrees under his supervision. His research areas include the synthesis of greener methodologies for regioselective C-S coupling products with active methylenes, indoles, ketones, etc.; synthesis of several Schiff-Base, synthesis of Schiff-base transition metal complexes and their application in organic transformations, as well as their biological and theoretical studies. He is also currently focusing on the photophysical properties of Schiff-base and their chemosensing behavior. He has been closely associated with many research projects sponsored by different project agencies, like AICTE, STIS, DST, etc., since 2011. He is also a reviewer in many peer-reviewed, reputed international and national journals.
